This was the first Timberframe barn I designed and built on my own.
# 2 Barn / shop built in 1996
This barn is a 24' by 36' 2 1/2 story bank barn.
# 4 Barn built in 1997
This is a 24' by 42' 1 1/2 story barn with a 8' by 42' shed, part of which
is open for fire wood storage.
# 6 Barn / addition built in 1998
This is a 26' by 32' 1 1/2 story carriage barn / addition used as a garage
and additional living space
# 9 Barn / shop built in 2000
This is a 30' by 36' 2 1/2 story barn and work shop.
# 15 Barn built in 2002
This is a 24' by 30' 1 1/2 story barn with a 12' by 30' shed on one side,
with a metal roof.
# 16 Barn / garage built in 2002
This is 20' by 22' garage with a 6' by 12' garden shed on the side,
with all wood cedar roof and siding.
# 18 Barn built in 2003
This is a 26' by 32' 2 1/2 story barn that has a drive-in second
floor, supported by heavy oak beams.
# 19 Barn / House built in 2003
This is a 28' by 40' 2 story bank barn, that is actually a house, with a
southern exposure of mostly glass.
# 20 Barn / library built in 2003
This is a private library 18' by 32' including the 8' of porch (little school
house look).

This barn is 24' by 30' 1 1/2 stories with cedar siding and a metal roof.

This barn is 18'
by 24' 1 1/2 stories with cedar siding and a metal roof. The roof has
SIP panels and the upstairs is used as a studio.

This is the completed frame of a 30' by 48' two story

2006
This is the finished frame, the barn, is 24'
by 44' 1 1/2 stories. it is a 4 bent structure. one bent is at 24' clear
truss, leaving a 24' by 32' clear span room.
This is the completed barn, with cedar siding and a metal roof.
The roof has
SIP panels for insulation.
# 32 Barn built in 2006
This is the finished frame, the barn, is 24'
by 30' 1 1/2 stories. It is a 3 bent structure. There are no internal
posts upstairs. The roof is common rafters over purlins.
This is the completed barn, with cedar board
& baton siding and a metal roof. The garage doors are over-head
type, sheathed in vertical cedar.
# 33 Barn / addition built
in 2006
This frame is an addition, it is 20'
by 28' 1 1/2 stories. and a 15' by 20' con. The main section is a 3
bent structure. The mid bent is a clear span. The roof is common rafters,
and it has a timber framed cupola.
This is the completed barn / addition, with pine
siding and a Arct. shingle roof. The roof has
SIP panels for insulation.
# 36 Barn / boat house built
in 2007
This is the finished frame, the barn, is 16'
by 24'. It is a 3 bent structure. in this case the bents followed
the ridge.
This is the completed barn, with pine siding and a
cedar shingle roof.
# 38 Barn / Studio built in 2007
These are pictures of the completed frame of a 38' by 60' story
and a half barn / studio. It is a 5 bent frame with a shed off the back. Click on the picture to see a time-lapse
video of the raising.
This is the same barn, completed. the walls and
roof have SIP panels, cedar siding and Arct. shingle roof. plus the
2 porches were timber framed as well.
# 39 The Hay Barn built in 2007
This is the finished frame, the barn, is 20'
by 30' 1 1/2 stories. with a 17' by 18' wing, and a 12' shed roof The
main section is a 4 bent structure.
This green building has hay bale walls and
SIP's on the roof. The bales will be covered in plaster and metal
roofing applied over the SIP's on the roof.
# 40 built in 2007
This frame is an addition, it is 26'
by 27' one story with a loft. It is a 4 bent structure. The roof is
common rafters with a structural ridge. note the curved braces.

house. In the background you can also see the Timber Framed barn I
had built them back in 2002 (# 15 above)

This frame is an addition, it is 24'
by 28' two story. It is a 3 bent structure. The roof is
common rafters. The first level is a walk-out basement.

This frame is a horse barn, it is 28'
by 36' 1 1/2 stories. It is a 4 bent structure. The roof is
common rafters resting on plates and purlins. This style frame is
great for hand raisings.

This frame is a Pavilion at Yale University, it
stands on 6 posts, and its roof overhangs to 30'
by 39'. It has 2 bents 38' long and 20' apart. The frame was hand
raised by students and friends.

45 built in 2009
This Barn is 36' by 36' 1 1/2 stories plus a 10'
by 24' shed roof on one side. The Timber frame hand raising only takes one
day and the roof was completed that day too!
