# 6  Addition                1998

This is a 26' by 32' 1 1/2 story carriage barn / addition used as a garage and additional living space.  It is a 3 bent structure but the bay that the garage is in is 22 feet wide with maple connectors going the span.

# 20 Library                2003

This is a private library 18' by 32' including the 8' of porch.  It has a little school house look, with it’s red cedar clapboard and cedar shingle roof.

# 33 Addition               2006

This frame is an addition, it is 20' by 28' 1 1/2 stories. and a 15' by 20' connector to the house.  The main section is a 3 bent structure. The mid bent is a clear span. The roof is common rafters, and it has a timber framed cupola.  The completed barn style addition, has pine siding and a architectural shingle roof. The roof has SIP panels for insulation.

# 38 Studio                   2007

The completed frame is a 38' by 60' story and a half barn / studio. It is a 5 bent frame with a shed off the back.

The walls and roof have SIP panels, cedar siding and architectural shingles roof.  The two porches were timber framed as were the two cupolas. The cupolas were fully constructed on the ground and then craned into place.

# 40 Addition               2007

This is an addition, it is 26' by 27' one story with a loft. It is a 4 bent structure.  The roof is common rafters with a structural ridge. Note the curved braces.

In the background of the finished addition you can also see the Timber Framed barn I had built them back in 2002.

# 41 Addition               2008

This frame is an addition, it is 24' by 28' two story. It is a 3 bent structure.  The roof is common rafters.  The first level is a walk-out basement.  It was our intention to make the barn look like a separate building, even though it is attached on two levels.

Portfolio of Additions and Homes

# 14  Home                  2002

This is  my home a small house, 20' by 34' plus a porch 1 1/2 stories plus a walk out basement.  It is 4 bents but the second floor has 6’ tall knee walls which creates a fully usable upstairs space, without the cost of the full second floor.  Later in 2006 we added the car port.  It’s largely built from the wood and stone from the property.  The House is a passive solar home with a wood stove for additional heat.  The Timber Frame in enclosed with SIP panels.

# 54 House                   2010

This frame is 22' by 52' cathedral space, but at the far end it is three stories tall. It is a 7 bent structure, including the front porch, which is integral to the frame.   The rest of the house is made of structural insulated panels or SIP’s, where no frame is required.  We also added timber framed brackets and porches on the garage and back.  Inside we timber framed stairs down from the great room, all pegged together  and with glass railings.

# 44 Lake House         2008

This frame is a house, it is 22' by 34' two story. It is a 4 bent structure.  The roof is common rafters. Note the dormer on one side, there are fully timber framed Valley Rafters framing that opening.  This frame was designed to fit on the foundation of the previous house here do to zoning constrictions, another benefit of  our custom design work.

# 46 Addition              2009

This is an addition, it is made up of two frames. One is 20' by 28' two story, the second is the kitchen at 19’ by 24’ with cathedral ceiling. The 2 story section contained master bed / bath upstairs and dinning and entry on the first floor.  We also framed a porch on the front and matched all the custom moldings and siding to the original architecture.

# 60 House                  2011

This frame is 28' by 60'.  It was made from the wood off the site that the customer cut down himself and had milled.  Half of the frame is oak, while the remanning is white pine.  He even made the roof boarding and flooring from the boards that came off the sides of the beams while sawing.  It’s a great feeling to be able to say all the wood came from here!

# 62 House                   2011

This frame is 24' by 57'.  This house was built upon an old existing foundation.  We had strict limitations to hight and size, do to the location, but were able to still develop a great timber famed structure with 2 stories and cathedral ceilings.  Note the cantilevered timber framed decks over hanging on the waters edge.

# 70 Addition              2013

This frame is 24' by 46' one story, 4 bents, plus and entry frame on the front and a timber famed solarium on the back.  We also constructed cedar trellises on ether side of the front entry frame. The main frame has principal rafters at each bent with plates, mid purlins and a ridge, connecting them.  Common rafters  were then installed over that for a great open span and look inside. It was a great design to combine out-door and in-door living.

# 72 House                   2014

This frame is 30' by 40' three stories, 4 bents, plus timber porches on the front and back.  Then Straw bale panels were installed around the frame.  The house was constructed of only all natural materials and was rated a “net zero” home.

# 80 Addition              2015

This frame is 20' by 30', 5 bents,  2 stories.  This was a challenge to match up to with the gambrel roof.  Considerable re-framing of the old hose had to happen, but in the end it fit, as though it had always been there.

# 83 Addition              2016

This frame is 20' by 20', 3 bents,  3 stories.

This project had many parts.  After gutting the house we removed all interior walls and installed timber famed support beams to open up the floor plan.  Then we took off a 1930 addition and replaced with the new 20’ x 20’ 3 story addition.  Then we replaced the porch fame all the way around the old house.  The house got all new windows & mechanicals, re-insulated and all new interior.

# 84 House                   2016

This frame is 28' by 38', 4 bents,  1 1/2 stories. This frame is one of my classic barn frames turned into a house.  Standard queen post bents with common rafters.  it has bedrooms in the two loft areas with a balcony hall between them.  It is on a full walk out basement foundation.

# 91 House                   2016

This frame is 17' by 24', 3 bents,  1 story, with a 10’ wide porch fame all the way around.   One side of the porch frame is inclosed to make 2 bedrooms.  It is only 800 sq feet making it a “Small house” but with the porches lives like much lager.  It was build as a vacation home.  the center 17x24 section is cathedral ceiling and will be the main living area.

# 93 Addition              2017

This frame is 18' by 22', 3 bents,  1 story.

It is a family room built where there used to be a deck.  In-fact we used the existing deck framing, installed a new sub floor and raised the frame upon that.

# 97 Summer Cottage 2017

This frame is 16' by 30', 3 bents,  and 1 1/2 stories.  It was built on piers do to it’s proximity to the water.  It replaced an existing cottage on the site that shared the same foot print.  The frame is a principal rafter and purlin design.  The high knee walls on the upper half-story allows full use of the 2ed floor while keeping the hight and cost lower.

# 102 Addition             2018

This frame is 15’ by 30', 3 bents,  1 story, with a scissor truss design leaving the great room area all cathedral space.

# 104 Lake House       2019

This is a 23’ by 35', 1 story 4 bent frame, with a walk out basement and loft.  It has SIP’s for insulation.  The built in screen porch as custom made wood framed screens.

# 105 Addition             2019

This is a 16’ by 20', 3 bent, 1 story frame. It is insulated with SIP’s.  It is used as a master bedroom sweet on there colonial era home.  The windows were hand made by others to match the existing house.
